Donate to CAN
CAN is a professional membership association for California nonprofits. We protect, strengthen, and promote the nonprofit community in our state, and our overarching purpose is to protect and enhance your ability to achieve your mission.
CAN relies on grant monies, member dues, and other earned income to carry out its mission. It costs about:
- $300,000 a year to mount an ongoing advocacy and public policy effort to ensure nonprofits get a fair shake when government leaders devise the laws and regulations that govern us.
- $300,000 a year to operate the National Nonprofit Financial Reporting Initiative, which helps streamline patchworked, inefficient accounting and financial reporting – a major obstacle to effectiveness – and professionalize the practice of nonprofit financial management.
- $200,000 a year to support membership services such as helpline calls, publications, peer networking, and discounts on products and services.
- $200,000 a year to stage conferences and workshops that gather nonprofit leaders from all sub-sectors, and all across the state, for key skill-building and networking.
