CAN Regional Partners 

The CAN Regional Partners Network is a powerful coalition of local advocacy organizations statewide. The network shares knowledge and resources for local advocacy and represents 77 percent of filing nonprofits in California. They have made major policy wins for nonprofits on the local level and connect CAN to legislative field offices throughout the state. For a roster of network members, please click here.

CANs Regional Partners have made local policies better for nonprofits all over the state. For example:

• The Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits organized over 200 nonprofits to lobby for reinstatement of $7 million in local funds. Its contract streamlining reforms are now being used as a national model. 
• The CBO Center in Contra Costa helped to save all country contracts on behalf of nonprofits.
• Humboldt County, in partnership with the Northern California Association of Nonprofits (NorCAN), has developed a strategy for addressing local policy issues, bringing together elected officials and nonprofit leaders in countywide meetings to address budget cuts.
• The Southern California Center for Nonprofit Management has developed an electronic information system used by local advocates.
• Our partner in Napa saved county funding and developed countywide support for a building to house nonprofits.
• The Resource Center for Nonprofit Management in Riverside maintained contract funding at the same levels when it was threatened.
• Sacramento’s Nonprofit Resource Center is building a policy group.
• San Diego Association of Nonprofits (SANDAN) has recruited nonprofits to become involved in the allocation planning.
• San Francisco Human Services Network hosted 800 people at its mayoral candidates night.
• Our Sonoma partner regularly uses close relationships with policy makers to shape decisions.
