CAN's Public Policy Structure
CAN works with three statewide collaborations to influence the legislation, regulations, and public policies that impact California nonprofits. These collaborations include:
CAN Policy Council (CPC)
The CPC is an independent advisory group that brings together 35 community, grantmaking, and academic leaders to shape public policies so they benefit and respond to California nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve.

CAN Regional Partners Network
This network is a coalition of local advocacy organizations across the state that shares knowledge and resources for local advocacy and collectively represents 77 percent of filing nonprofits in California. The network, which connects CAN to legislative field offices throughout the state, has made major policy wins on the local level for the state’s nonprofits.

CAN Advisory Body to the State Attorney General
The AG Advisory Body includes attorneys and accountants who represent nonprofit organizations, as well as nonprofit leaders. It addresses nonprofit concerns in proposed regulations with the staff of the Charitable Trust Division of the State Attorney General’s office.
