2A: The Law and Ethics of Fundraising. Most nonprofits are aware that laws have been enacted regarding fundraising activities designed to protect donors, the general public and charities themselves. 2B: Using the Logic Model to Design and Evaluate Programs. Learn how the logic model can be a useful tool in measuring the impact of existing programs or discovering whether a new program will be effective by providing a visual presentation of how it works. An effective logic model can help you focus on the outcomes that matter most and give you a head start in measuring the impact of your program. 2C: Turning Peril into Promise: Positioning Your Organization for New Investors. Bring your current marketing materials to this highly interactive 90-minute workshop to get tips on positioning your organization so you can be more enticing as an investment in the future. Participants will be led through an overview of IMPACT marketing – and why it is the key to successful current and future investment. 2D: Current Issues Affecting Volunteer Programs. DOVIA-LA (Directors of Volunteer in Agencies) will lead a discussion addressing the cost of managing and maintaining a volunteer program; the changing demographics of volunteers; staff/volunteer relationships; reasons people volunteer today; and how to target recruitment efforts. 2E: Gauging and Building Power: Organizational Advocacy Capacity. Does your nonprofit organization have what it takes to engage in a sustained and effective advocacy campaign? During this session, we will present and discuss key indicators of advocacy capacity (based on Alliance for Justice's Advocacy Capacity Assessment Tool) and how you can use them to assess and strengthen your organization's advocacy capacity. 2F: Second Life: A New Frontier for Virtual Activism and Philanthropy. This "mixed-reality" panel explores the work of nonprofits inside the virtual world of Second Life (http://secondlife.com/). We will be touring Second Life's Nonprofit Commons and demonstrate how nonprofits can use it for fundraising and awareness building. Your expert guides are nonprofit staff who are already using Second Life to further their missions.
