IRS delays threat to small nonprofits
(7/27/10) The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced a one-time filing relief program to small tax-exempt organizations that have filing due dates between May 17 and October 15,
but have missed their filing deadline for the last three consecutive years. The program includes a filing extension for those with gross receipts of $25,000 or less that are required to file Form 990-N, the e-Postcard, and a voluntary compliance program for somewhat larger organizations eligible to file Form 990-EZ. The Urban Institute estimates that 292,000 organizations have yet to comply. For more information visit the IRS website.
