What can nonprofits do during campaigns and elections?
There are very specific guidelines that dictate what kinds of campaign- and election-related activities nonprofit organizations may engage in. Nonprofit Policy Day gathers nonprofit, government and philanthropic leaders from across the state each March to discuss issues of pressing importance to California's nonprofit sector. This year, it's on March 21 in Sacramento.
Alliance for Justice works to advance the cause of justice for all Americans, strengthen the public interest community's ability to influence public policy and foster the next generation of advocates. It provides research and publications, trainings, membership and a Justice Selection Project database that keeps track of the nominees and the judges in all the courts that make up the Federal Judiciary.
Center for Lobbying in the Public Interest promotes, supports and protects 501(c)(3) nonprofit advocacy and lobbying in order to strengthen participation in our democratic society and advance charitable missions. It provides training, publications and resources aimed at enhancing and protecting nonprofit lobbying rights.
National Council of Nonprofit Associations monitors and responds to federal legislation and connects nonprofit advocacy efforts state-by-state to enhance the work of state associations in protecting and promoting nonprofit voices in the halls of power. Independent Sector monitors and responds to federal legislation and publishes resources on nonprofit lobbying and advocacy, including 10 Reasons to Lobby for Your Cause.
